Unity Baptist Tabernacle Church

Rev. Dr. Edward A. Mulraine is the fourth pastor, of the historic, history making Unity Baptist Tabernacle Church located in Mount Vernon, New York. He has served with spiritual distinction, vision and church transformation. The church has seen financial and discipleship growth as well as internal and external renovation and modernization of its property. The church continues to enhance its worship experience through teaching, preaching, prayer, praise and worship as well as its community presence through open doors and activism.

Rev. Dr. Mulraine was born in the Boogie Down Bronx, New York where he was nurtured in the public schools and the public streets. He then went on to excel academically beyond his own reckoning. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Manhattanville College, A Masters of Divinity Degree from New York Theological Seminary, A second MastersDegree in Sacred Theology from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University and a Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Duke University Divinity School. Rev. Mulraine was also given an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from his Alma Mater, Manhattanville College for his civil rights and social justice activism.

Dr. Mulraine began his call to ministry at the age of 19 and later became associate minister at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York under the leadership of Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson. Rev. Mulraine worked on social justice issues and as a board member of Grace Baptist Church’s UJAMAA Community Development Corporation, a not-for-profit housing development and social service agency.

Dr. Mulraine’s interest and activities extend beyond the walls of the church. He is community activist, educator, author and entrepreneur. As a former president of the Williamsbridge NAACP in the Bronx and Vice President of the New York State Conference of NAACP Branches, he lead massive voter registration drives, challenged education and economic injustices, police misconduct and gave scholarships to needed first time and graduate students. His activism continues through his church with the formation of the Unity and Community Development Corporation where Dr. Mulraine challenges community issues and works with local pastors and elected officials to bring about change.

Dr. Mulraine has taught classes as an adjunct professor at New York Theological Seminary and Manhattanville College, courses include: Homiletics, Church History, Theology and The Political Philosophy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

He has written numerous articles and authored three books: The Gathering at Gethsemane (2009), Something To Battle With (2014) and The Ten Step M.A.N. (2018). His books have sold over 10,000 copies and counting. Dr. Mulraine’sbooks can be purchased from his publishing company, E.A. Raine Publishing (earainepublishing.com) which he established in 2009. Rev. Mulraine believes in the power of protest but also the power of entrepreneurship.

Rev. Dr. Edward Mulraine is the recipient of numerous awards including the New York State NAACP highest award given to activists for their commitment to civil rights.

Dr. Mulraine is a father to three adult wonderful breathtaking children.
